Ola Gig Electric Scooter Price, Range & Specification

Ola Electric has launched its latest offerings, the Ola S1 Z, Ola S1 Z Plus and Ola Gig range Starting at an incredibly affordable price of just ₹39,000. announced a lineup of electric scooters on November 26, 2024, primarily focused on gig economy workers. These electric scooters are particularly appealing to gig workers who typically work for fast-commerce or food delivery companies. The brand has set the pricing, performance, range, and design while considering the economic status of gig workers, who are required to cover small distances quickly. One of the electric scooters from the recently introduced electric scooter series is Ola Gig. There are two variants provided for this electric scooter Gig & Gig Plus. Consequently, this article will discuss the price, range, specifications, and features of both Ola Gig electric scooter variants.

Design and Looks

The Ola Gig electric scooter has a sleek, contemporary look that is similar to a moped scooter but with a futuristic twist. Because it was designed to carry as much luggage as possible, it has been optimized to do so.

The seats are designed to accommodate a single passenger, who can use the luggage rack in the back to carry items to deliver. When compared to traditional moped scooters, the luggage carrier appears to be roomy and of superior quality.

Although the electric scooter’s frame construction is rather sturdy and resilient for the roads, the color palette is quite bright and cheerful. One bright hue and one dark color make up the electric scooter’s dual-tone color scheme.

The Ola Gig+’s muscular front, appropriately protected handlebar, and small yet strong headlamps are the main visual differences between the two models of this electric scooter.

On the other hand, the Ola Gig variation seems more like a moped than an electric scooter due to its straightforward design and visible stem attached to the handlebar. This specific variant’s headlights are rectangular rather than small.

Variants

The Ola Gig electric scooter comes in two different versions, each with distinctive characteristics including power, battery capacity, range, and overall performance. Because of these little improvements, the performance-wise superior variant costs a bit more than the other one.

Ola Electric Gig two variants are:

  • Ola Gig
  • Ola Gig+

Pricing

As of now, the introductory prices for both variants of Ola Gig are, according to its official website are:

  • Ola Gig – 39,999 rupees
  • Ola Gig+ – 49,999 rupees

But keep in mind that these are only introductory rates. In addition, both variants can be reserved on Ola Electric official website for 499 rupees. According to Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Agarwal’s official social media page, the deliveries are anticipated to take place in April 2025.

Given its maximum speed, the increased battery capacity when two batteries are connected, and the option of simultaneously connecting two batteries, the Ola Gig+ model is unquestionably better in terms of performance. You can only use one battery to power your scooter with the Ola Gig model, which significantly reduces performance.

Additionally, one of the unique features of the Ola Gig electric scooters is that it also debuted the much-discussed portable and detachable battery system, which makes it simple for gig workers to transport and conveniently charge their personal vehicles.

Additionally, the 157 km range and a top speed of 45 km/h appear to be more than sufficient for gig workers’ needs.

Aside from performance aspects, the Ola Gig electric scooters have 12″ tires that provide good road grip and respectable gradeability. It contains functions such as app-based access, which allows you to scan and unlock the vehicle.

Conclusion

The Ola Gig electric scooter might directly compete with those that are currently on the market given its affordability and the features it offers. However, given Ola’s recently damaged reputation due to subpar after-sales services, it is up to the public to decide whether or not they will wager on them again.
