LeafyBus to Deploy 50 Premium Electric Buses Across Northern India

LeafyBus, a tech-enabled electric vehicle (EV) bus operator based in New Delhi, has announced plans to introduce 50 new electric buses over the next 12 months. The deployment will see these buses operating across multiple routes in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, with future expansion expected to cover Eastern and Southern India.

The company has entered into a partnership with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd. as part of this expansion. Under this agreement, LeafyBus will procure a total of 200 electric buses from JBM, with the initial 50 buses being rolled out in the coming year and the remaining 150 buses to be introduced in the following year.

The new fleet of buses will be equipped with features aimed at enhancing passenger safety and comfort. These include CCTV surveillance, live tracking, and a Bus Buddy service to assist customers onboard. Additionally, the buses will incorporate Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to meet safety standards. The buses will also feature high-speed chargers and larger battery sizes to support long-range travel.

Rohan Dewan, CEO and Founder of LeafyBus, highlighted that the new initiative is a significant move towards advancing electric mobility in India. He stated, “Our collaboration with JBM EV is a crucial step in transforming transportation across the country.”

Animesh Sharma, CIO and Co-Founder, emphasized the company’s focus on enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience through innovative technology. “We are working closely with leading manufacturers to develop tech solutions that improve the efficiency and overall experience of our electric bus operations,” Sharma said.

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of JBM Group, also commented on the partnership, noting, “This agreement underscores JBM’s commitment to sustainable development and zero-emission technologies. Our electric buses provide a reliable and environmentally friendly alternative for intercity travel.”

LeafyBus is committed to expanding its electric bus fleet and exploring new markets, with a focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability driving its growth.
